  1. Difference between the iHUB Epson TM-T82II Intelligent and the Epson TM-T88VI Intelligent Receipt Printers

So many people ask us "What is the difference between the Epson TM-T82II-i Intelligent and the Epson TM-T88VI-IHUB Intelligent Point of Sale Receipt Printer models. With this article we hope to compare the printers in such a way that it is easy to understand and make an informed choice before you purchase.

Epson Australia released the Epson TM-T82II-i Intelligent to the Australian market to help smaller retailers have access to web printing, when a really fast printing printer, such as the T88VI iHUB Intelligent,  is not critical to customer service and the operations of a busy retail store or restaurant.

The main differences between the printers are the volumes it can handle and the print speed. The TM-T88VI-IHUB has an additional 2 years of warranty and you can only replace the print head on the TM-T88VI-IHUB.

Shared functionality and features on the Epson TM-T82II-i Intelligent and the Epson TM-T88VI-IHUB Intelligent:

Both the Epson TM-T82II-i and the Epson TM-T88VI-IHUB  models have a Cash Drawer (Drawer Kick / DK Port) for use with 24 Volt  Cash Drawers, and allows the cash drawer to open automatically once a transaction has been finalised. Both the Epson TM-T82II-i and the Epson TM-T88VI-IHUB use 80x80 Thermal Receipt paper rolls.

  2. How to select the correct Socket Mobile barcode scanner for your device and application, with iPad, Android, Windows and Mac iOS.

Comparison pf the Socket Mobile Barcode Scanners for POS applications on iPad, Android, Windows PC's and Mac iOS

This article will help you to choose the right Socket Mobile barcode scanner for your needs and your application, and also explain the differences between the Socket Mobile scanner models.

In 2019 Socket Mobile release a new range of barcode scanners to replace their very successful range of handheld mobile Bluetooth barcode scanners.

The first thing to clarify is that you will need a Bluetooth connection on your device (PC / Mac / iPad / Android tablet) in order to connect the scanner via Bluetooth. Alternatively, you can insert a Bluetooth dongle into the PC or Mac USB port and connect the scanner to this Bluetooth dongle.

Also, you can rest assured that, when an application recommends a specific Socket scanner model as compatible with their iPad App, that any other barcode scanner in the Socket Mobile range will also work.

The Socket scanner mobile range is compatible with many applications, including Nobly POS, HIke POS, Vend POS, Kounta POS, Square POS, Cin7, Shopify POS, LoyVerse, LightSpeed POS, and many more

The Socket S700 series scanners are available in 5 colors

Comparison of the Socket Mobile S700, S730 and S740 models

    Socket S700 - 1D Bluetooth - Linear Scanning - Entry-level model

Replaces the 7Ci model. The Socket S700 barcode scanner scans 1D barcodes only (normal product barcodes), and pairs to the device via Bluetooth.

The scanner comes with various accessories, the main one being a charging dock, that allows the scanner to charge and stand upright, and the user can scan a product barcode whilst the scanner is in the dock, by pressing the scan button on the top.

The S700 scanner scans on paper or screen, and this model is the best selling in the Socket range in Australia.

Socket S730 - 1D Bluetooth - Laser Scanning - For hard to reach places and rapid scanning

Replaces the 7Mi model. The Socket S730 barcode scanner scans 1D barcodes only (normal product barcodes), and pairs to the device via Bluetooth.

The scanner also comes with various accessories, the main one being a charging dock, that allows the scanner to charge and stand upright, and the user can scan a product barcode whilst the scanner is in the dock, by pressing the scan button on the top.

The Socket S730 scanner scans on paper only, and the laser technology allows for rapid scanning in hard to reach places, as the S730 scanner has a longer read range of up to 1.1 meters (45 inches).

    Socket S740 - 2D Bluetooth - Imager Scanning - For 2D QR code scanning

Replaces the 7Qi model. The Socket S740 barcode scanner scans 1D and 2D barcodes (normal product barcodes and for example QR codes), and pairs to the device via Bluetooth.

The scanner also comes with various accessories, one being a charging dock, that allows the scanner to charge and stand upright, and the user can scan a product barcode whilst the scanner is in the dock, by pressing the scan button on the top.

The other popular accessory is the charging stand/pole, which not only charges the scanner, it also elevates it and when in the stand it can scan in presentation mode, so you do not have to even touch.

The Socket S740 scanner scans on paper or screens and is one of the most popular scanners in Australia.
