Serial Barcode Scanners
RS232 Serial Barcode Scanners are used with many Point of Sale systems, usually running on Windows computers or POS Terminals.
Serial Scanners will usually require either a powered serial cable, or a non-powered serial cable if the PC has a powered RS232/Serial port (not common).
RS232 / Serial Barcode Scanners connect to a Windows computer's serial port and transmits the scanned information to the screen or to any program being used at the time (Just like a keyboard would). Barcodes can be edited or changed by programming the scanner, before it is displayed / transmitted and therefore allows for customisation of sending barcode data to software programs.
